The role of the administrator in Blogtronix is to organize and configure the site so it meets the needs of the purchasing organization in terms of content (modules), security, and much more. By definition, the administrator has access to all available functionality and content within that group. The admin panel in your Top Level group (i.e. your first group) will have some settings which are system wide, and can therefore only be configured from the top level admin. These settings are mostly found in the System and Communication tabs of the admin section and can include settings such as dynamic user profiles, system tasks, system settings and more. The very first user in a group is by default that group’s administrator, however, this Permissions level can be easily extended to as many others as desirable even if only on a temporary basis. Each group has its own administrative back end where you can configure their settings. Furthermore, each group has a FRONT END ADMIN section. If you are an admin of a group, in the upper right you will see links titled “Admin” and “Edit Page”—these are the links to your backend (Admin) and front end admin (Edit Page) See Figure 11-1.

The orientation of administrators is completely flexible. In other words, you can have one system wide administrator, OR you can assign unique administrators to various subgroups. It’s possible to have multiple groups across your organization, all of which have different administrators. For example, if you have the right within the system to create a subgroup in the back end, (even at a lower Permissions level than administrator, such as a moderator) then if you do create a subgroup, you automatically become the first administrator of that subgroup. One consistent aspect of site administration is that if you are an administrator in a group, you will automatically be an administrator in all subgroups of that group that is created from the backend. It is recommended that the total number of site administrators is kept to a minimum so that site consistency can be maintained. These few site administrators should be responsible for the site’s upkeep and management. They should be assisted in each group they create by a group moderator(s) (the next lowest Permissions level) to keep things running smoothly.
